How To Make Money As An Affiliate
Posted Under: Affiliate Marketing
Affiliate marketing is also known as referral programs. Referral programs are normally commission based sales with varying percentages depending on the particular program you choose. For example if you refer a visitor to a site and they purchase a product, some programs may offer a 50% commission to you for the sale and 50% to the merchant. Again commissions can vary. One of the greatest benefits to you as an affiliate is that usually the merchant will handle all the processing of payments, returned items, site maintenance, customer satisfaction and guarantees.
When choosing any affiliate program be careful and familiarize yourself with the product. It also helps if you have a true interest in the product and feel that there is legitimate benefit by purchasing it. Sometimes a potential buyer may want to email you with questions or request more information. I have often purchased the product myself to see if it is something I would want to put my time and energy into. It will always be tempting to choose programs with the highest commission rate but if the product has no benefit or is misrepresented your visitors won’t buy them and you won’t get paid anything.
Here are some tips on selecting a program that’s right for you:
- Do not accept anything less than 25% commission. With enough research there are plenty of worthwhile programs out there that have high commission structures in any field.
- Find sites that have statistic pages that show the number of visitor clicks, sales, and earnings so you see your progress.
- Be sure to look for programs that offer lots of tools to put on your web site. Banners, text links, and graphics can only help improve your sales.
- Before becoming an affiliate, take time to understand the pay structure as well as how often you will be paid. Will this programs pay structure meet my expectations?
- Look for timely and helpful support. If a company can’t answer questions and resolve issues in a timely manner you do not want to work with them.
Many people make good money with affiliate marketing programs. If you are just starting, use common sense and do your homework before signing up. Once you become more familiar with the process of affiliate marketing over time you will be making money at it too.
