Affiliate Marketing is one of the fastest growing industries on the Web today. It produces billions of dollars each year and that’s why so many people are getting involved.

However many people that start jump in without any strategies plans or guidelines to follow. Yes affiliate marketing is one of the easier ways to generate a great income from home but it still requires work with follow through. A clear plan of action from start to finish is crucial to your success.

Just starting out you will want to do some research on other more experienced marketers that can offer some tips and training on a particular product or system. Find an affiliate program that is affordable and with a reasonable time table. I have been involved with programs for up to 6 months only to find out that the program wasn’t for me. I wanted to move on but had already committed financially. Go month to month if you can until you find a program you genuinely feel good about. If you decide to change chances are you learned a thing or two along the way.

Find a program that offers at least 50% commission. There are enough to choose from anything less is not worth your time and effort.

Look for a merchant that receives a high traffic rating. If you find a website that is ranked in the top 100,000 this means that it has a good volume of traffic and will most likely produce profits for you.

Always know your payout periods. Some pay weekly, monthly, and quarterly.

Make sure the merchant has the ability to accurately track cookies (the people you originally brought to the site and should be credited for). Most of the people you bring to a site will not buy the first visit but will return for a purchase later. The tracking will show the customer originated from you.

I like merchants that offer free stuff, promotionals, and discounts. Some programs will offer educational material for you to download and keep. This is a great to educate yourself while you earn.

Check out an affiliates advertising. Is it fresh and exciting or do they just use the same ads all the time. If so do you have permission to advertise with your own ads or make changes to theirs?
