3 Key Elements Of Affiliate Marketing
Affiliate Marketing is a way for you to make money from other people’s products or services by referring them to the designated site. The owner of the site delivers the product, closes the sale then pays you for the referral. For example: I use Host Gator for hosting my domain name and website. I like their product so with their permission I put up a link to their site from my website. Knowing and using the products you sell gives you knowledge but also builds trust and credibility with your visitors.
Here are some basics:
1. Find a niche that you are interested in. It could be on a subject you already know about such as a hobby (fly fishing, gardening, cooking, etc.) or something you’re willing to learn about. You will have to do some research.
2. Look for an affiliate program that is relevant to your market. Find one that has a good compensation plan and a statistics or analytics page. The statistics page is a tracking program that will enable you to see what campaigns are working and how many sales you are making. There are many affiliate programs to choose from. To find one try Clickbank, PeperJam or the one I use Goldwares.
3. Start your marketing plan. Begin with a good domain name and hosting company. Choose a name that is easy to say and understand over the phone. If available, ending in .com is the best. Then you can start building a website by using a blog. This is already designed and can be set up for free. Try WordPress or Blogger.
Of course there is more to it than these three steps but at this point you have an online store people can shop at twenty four hours a day seven days a week. This is much different than buying a franchise and stocking it with products. Having your own online business is like any entrepreneurial endeavor, if you’re willing to put in the work and be self motivated, you will succeed.
